The Right Side

Lately I’ve been hearing a lot about “being on the right side of history” or on the “wrong side.”

For some reason, the other morning while getting ready for work, I began thinking about this phrase, and what it meant, if anything at all… because I can think I am on the right side of history, yet I’m suffering through it, so does that really put me on the right side? Conversely, I could be on the wrong side of history, yet I’m happy, having the greatest time of my life, and just being.

And yes, of course, I can be on the right side AND be happy. The combinations are endless. But the point is, are we really on the right side when we are miserable, filled with hatred, feeling scared, wanting revenge? Or can we just let go of our fears and live the moment no matter how terrible it seems to be? And fully embrace the right side of history, our history, our evolution to becoming better beings.

No matter what, let’s try to be good people. Let’s try to lend a helping hand to those in need. Let’s stand together for those who do not have or have never had certain privileges that we’ve had. Let’s try to feel their pain, and understand where they are coming from. Let’s try to understand their rationale and most importantly their feelings towards concepts/ideas we probably don’t agree on.

Let’s just be.

  1. I think you’re spot on. But it is hard. Very hard.
Nonetheless, I think you make an excellent point. At the end of the day, we need to just mind our actions towards others and let karma do its job for those who are doing harm instead of good.
